Restaurant ‘Aux Fontaines’. La Reole.

Great combination of real quality; yet a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Great food, featuring local specialties. Great service. Great local wine. Very nice people. Nice setting.

Ferme Auberge. ‘L’Auberge de Mativat’.

As real as it gets. A home farm auberge; where all the produce is home grown, made, reared etc...from the lamb and duck, the wonderful soups, to the wine and aperitif. And fantastic value at 20 per person, for all the food and drink!!. A true south-west France experience. Located in Marcellus, just past Cocumont. ( 15 minutes. ) Yes, you eat on the farm!  Run by Stephanie and Pierre; very nice people!

Restaurant  et Café ‘Indigo’.  Bazas.

A restaurant and a bistro, you pick! Again nice people, good food, and very relaxed. The bistro/café option is great for lunch, or a casual night out.

Restaurant ‘Les Ramparts’.   Bazas.

Lovely setting, with a beautiful terrace for lunch on a nice day. Again good regional food. Mentioned by Rick Stein.

‘Domaine De Fompeyre’.  Bazas.

Formal and traditional. A fine setting, and a good menu.

Manoir Caubeyran - gasconmanoir.com - is a dining/gastronomic paradise.

Eat in: on one of the six dining areas; the dining room, the winter garden, the great room, kitchen, or outside terraces. Or picnic in the fields, the valley, or woods.

Or eat out: in one of the many restaurants, or regional specialist auberges, of the locality, (see below); in Bazas (10mins), famous for its beef, try your luck in one of the wine villages, or visit the world renowned restaurants of Bordeaux.

Bazas, Cocumont, the canal, and ‘ferme-auberges’, all within fifteen minutes of the manoir, featured prominently in ‘Rick Stein - French Odyssey’.

There are many other great restaurants in the neighboring (and bigger) towns of Castlejaloux, Langon, and Marmande. ( all under 30 minutes away )

There is also an international range of Italian, Indian, Thai, Moroccan, and Vietnamese. But on a visit to France, - why bother?

Bazas, Cocumont, and the canal, all within ten minutes of the manoir, featured prominently in ‘Rick Stein - French Odyssey’.

Or venture slightly further to Nérac, Condom, Agen, Saint Emilion, or Mont-De-Marsan for their local specialties.

And don’t forget Bordeaux!
