SHOPPING:

Manoir Caubeyran  lies between three villages; Sigalens 3km, Grignols 6.5km, and Cocumont 9.5km. All have shops, boulangeries...etc… there is also a little shop/bar down the road at Cauvignac!!

There is a post office in both Grignols and Cocumont.

There are other neighbouring villages of Aillas and Auros. Both have shops etc… and are about ten minutes from the Manoir.

Manoir Caubeyran is circled by, and convenient to, five sizable towns; Bazas, Langon, La-Reole, Marmande, and Castlejaloux.

All are under 30 minutes, and all have large supermarkets, hypermarches,  etc... and weekly markets, see below for markets!

All have shopping and recreational  facilities.

We recommend the very good E.Lerclerc hypermarche in Langon. About twenty minutes from the house.

Marmande has a large selection of hypermarches.

The nearest town is Bazas, at 14km. About a ten to fifteen minute drive.

Market day in Bazas is Saturday. This is the quintessential French market. Bazas is a ancient bastide town and now awarded as an UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

Sunday Morning Mass - in the beautiful Bazas Cathedral at 11.00

Bordeaux with its shopping malls and districts, and its Universities, is only 45 minutes away.

Toulouse, the other great southern University Town is two hours away by car.

There is an excellent train service into both cities: Bordeaux and Toulouse.

For restaurants etc… please see the dining page on this web-site.

Boulangerie etc... For bread and wine!!

Out advice for the little shopping, bread, butcher, newspapers, etc is to ue Grignols, ( and/or Bazas ).

The nearest boulangerie for your morning bread is Sigalens (3km). It has great bread, but a limited range. There are two boulangeries in Grignols. Bothare good, but the one on the left, same side as the post office, is excellent, and has a better range.

In Grignols, there is a little deli near the post office, and there two good, and popular, butchers. There are also two small supermarkets…..and you can buy an ‘English’ newspaper in the newsagents/tabac.

This area is famous for it’s beef, the ‘Beuf de Bazas’. To follow in the steps of Rick Stein, visit the butcher, directly opposite the Cathedral, in Bazas.

To buy local wine use the ‘Cave’ in Cocumont, the little shop in Cocumont, the markets, or the deli in Grignols.

There is also a small, excellent, and friendly wine cave in Bazas, just off the plaza.

Or just call into one of the local vineyards and buy direct.

For the BIG Shopping.

Our advice for big supermarket shopping, is to use the ‘E.Leclerc’ Hypermarche in Langon, just twenty minutes from the Manoir.

There are supermarkets, in Bazas, (Langon road), as well as, excellent bakers, butchers, etc...in the centre. (Rick Stein thought so!).
